Hey folks,
"a small step for mankind, but a huge step for Xinf"
somewhat proudly, i'm hereby announcing availability of the Xinf Core 0.0.0 Pre-Alpha on haxelib. There are still problems with Windows .DLLs, likely various issues with OpenGL (for example, it looks ugly because no antialiasing currently), and of course the xinf api itself is not stable in any respect, and Xinfinity is not "finished". But, this makes it *much* easier for you to give it a shot, since all you have to do is:
haxelib install xinf
it will install the current xinf package, including xinfinity (which, again, wont work on windows yet). It will also install dependency libraries- i.e. NekoOpenGL, NekoCPtr and NekoFontTools. These can, of course, also be used separate from xinf. Take a look at the samples/ subdirectories in your haxelib installation path.
As for the next steps, my priorities are now:
* Clean up and document the core xinf.erno and xinf.ony APIs. There is be one massive change left as i plan to convert the Enum-based DrawingInstructions to an Interface, so i'm not sure how long this will take.
* Once that is done, i'll call it "Alpha", version numbers will stick on 0.0.x for a while as i want some of you ("inner circle") people to give it a spin. The aim, though, is to go for a 0.1 release (still "unstable", but suitable for broader hacking) for xmas, as i expect many people in western societies might find some time there to do some research on cool new technologies :)
* Make some more samples, work on stabilization of this core.
* The 0.0.x series will also see the addition of an "experimental" module (likely only on SVN), including some of the less-core functionality (primarily, xinf.style and xinf.ul).
So much for now- i've also started documenting Xinf on the wiki ( http://xinf.org/ ). It currently mostly gives some basics on the support libraries though.
Rejoice!
-dan
