some more research showed that the variable has to be DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH on OSX. I wonder how that could've worked on my flatmate's OSX, ah well.

Before doing a fresh release, could you verify that for me, like:

export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib/haxe/lib/xinf/0,0,3/ndll/Mac
sudo haxelib run xinf

... will probably give you an error about libgcc, which i will care about next. but we'd be a step further.
